Web applications are similar to regular programs in that they can be distributed on CD ROM, via email or web downloads. They offer similar power and functionality. From then on the advantages become much clearer.
Web applications use the Internet to deliver the program content. An installable interface is provided in the same way as any other program. But then use a centrally administered web server then generates program content dynamically based on user input. Web applications can contain all the power of web sites but with the addition of full machine control not afforded to regular web sites. This hybrid approach centralises resources, saves time, money and makes product upgrades seamless.
